Select onsite from these class topics offered:

“Issues vs Images: The “Power” of the Media (So Far) in the 2016 Presidential Campaign”
Our discussion will examine how the classical Greek method of issue-based voting has been replaced by today’s 24-hour news media and their focus on images. How has this change affected voter turnout and what does this mean for the future of American democracy?

“From the Womb to the Tomb: Understanding the Fascinating (or complex) Process of Aging across the Lifespan”
This class will explore the latest research findings pertaining to aging.  Content will explore the multi-directional and multi-dimensional nature of aging; memory and cognition; chronic health conditions; functional performance; and so much more.

“From the Charge of the Light Brigade to the Iraq War: Media, Politics, and War Coverage”
In our time together we will examine the tensions that exist between the news media and the government during wartime. Is there a value to the public of reporting the truth during military conflicts? Does such “truth” even exist in modern wartime reporting?

“I Wish they Would Remember that I Forgot: Understanding the Impact of Dementia and Memory Loss”
What is dementia and how will dementia affect individuals, caregivers, and family members? Current research on dementia, along with diagnoses, assessments, stages of illness, drug therapies and non-pharmacological approaches will all be explored.

“The Making of a College Campus”
The Cleveland State campus of today has dramatically improved since our early days of patched-together buildings and Quonset huts.  As CSU continues to evolve and grow, and student learning and living arrangements continue to change, discover how the university is addressing these changes and planning for a vibrant future.

Stay the Day… Or as long as you can.

CSU2U grew out of what was historically a local-area cocktail reception. Last year we introduced some educational content and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive—so we’ve lined up more. You may attend the entire day, or as long you’re able to commit. What’s most important to us is you connecting with one another, and you connecting back with CSU.

Make it a vacation!

The Marriott Sanibel Harbour is a world-class resort set upon an 85-acre peninsula where the Caloosahatchee River meets the Gulf of Mexico.  The hotel features 278 rooms, 69 suites, a fitness center, swimming pools, exciting land/water excursions, and a full-service spa. Take advantage of a special group rate by reserving a room under the Cleveland State Alumni Association block.  Call 1-800-767-7777 while rooms remain available.

What to Wear

No school uniforms are required—we thought we’d clear that up! “Resort casual” during the afternoon is our recommendation. The evening reception is usually taken up a notch.
