Named for its likeness to the famous British fortress, Gibraltar Island sits just offshore of South Bass Island in Lake Erie and is home to Ohio State University's Stone Laboratory and other research facilities exploring the lake's rich ecosystem.
We'll start with a tour of the Aquatic Visitors Center, learning about Lake Erie's vast history while getting a hands-on, up-close look at some of its tiniest inhabitants and much more.
After, we'll tour the historic island including Perry's Lookout, Cook Castle and its breathtaking glacial grooves.
Optional overnight stay on Thursday, July 19 is available at the Put-in-Bay Resort for an additional $250. Cost includes room for one night, golf cart, and Crystal Cave and Heineman Winery tours.
Transportation to Gibraltar Island provided.
