The world is her oyster: Lauren Schaeffer

Q+A with International Business major Lauren Schaeffer

What brought you to CSU?
I chose Cleveland State over other colleges because of the scholarships awarded to me through the Jack, Joseph & Morton Mandel Honors College, the academic programs offered at CSU, and the campus’ downtown location.

Major and GPA:
International Business
3.75

Are you hoping to work abroad?
I have had the opportunity to travel outside the country twice. I first traveled abroad about six years ago. Over the course of two and a half weeks I visited Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Austria, and France. I saw many famous places like Sistine Chapel, the Roman Colosseum, the statue of David, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Venice, the Alps, and the Eiffel Tower. The experience was incredible and spurred my interest in culture and international travel. Last spring, I participated in a study abroad market research class where I did research for Vitamix in London, England. Between conducting surveys and interviews, my classmates and I were able to see the city and visit historical sites like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the Globe Theater, and the Tower of London. I love to travel, see new countries and cities, and experience local cultures. Although I love traveling, I want to work in the United States. There are many international companies in the US so I hope to work with one of them after graduation.

I'm proud to be a Viking because…
I am proud to be a Viking because Cleveland State has given me many opportunities to grow academically and as an individual. I have met an abundance of people here who have helped me succeed in college and have prepared me for after graduation. I become increasingly proud to be a part of the CSU community as our campus expands and is recognized for its achievements.

My Favorite part of CSU…
My favorite part of CSU is being in downtown Cleveland. The campus and the city feel like one unit and benefit mutually as each one develops. Being in the heart of Cleveland is fun, exciting, and always an adventure!
