James A. Garfield, the United States' 20th president, was born and raised near Orange, Ohio. After graduating from Williams College in Massachusetts, he returned to Ohio and became a classics professor at what would eventually become Hiram College, settling in Mentor. Take a tour of the home, where he and his family lived and where he occasionally campaigned for the presidency from the front porch. Includes a 2-hour guided, behind-the-scenes tour of the historic home. Please note that the tour involves lots of walking, stairs and ventures outdoors at various points. Please dress appropriately. All tour registrants must be 16 and over.
While we get the special look behind the scenes of the Garfield home, there is an additional general house tour available for $10 and can be purchased on site.
