Organizations today may have up to five different generations working together, from ‘Generation Zs’ to ‘Baby Boomers.’ This leads to a variety of challenges for all organizational members, and has implications for nearly all functions. This presentation will discuss several of these issues, such as how expectations for workplace behaviors may differ, the influence on informal communication networks, how training needs and strategies vary for different ages, concerns about age discrimination, and recent antagonism towards older workers. A brief overview of what the School of Communication is up to will be presented as well.
