We're gearing up for the holidays over here at Mather Mansion and one of those seasonal to-do's is sharing our amazing gingerbread cookie recipe. Check out this and all of our favorite holiday tips.
GINGERBREAD MAGNUS COOKIE RECIPE
3 cups flour
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
¼ teaspoon salt
¾ cup butter, softened
¾ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup molasses
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Mix flour, sugar, salt, and spices in large bowl. Set aside.
Beat butter and brown sugar on medium speed until dough is light and fluffy. Add molasses, egg, and vanilla; continue mixing. Gradually add in flour and spice mix on low speed until ingredients are evenly distributed in batter. When dough it complete, form into thick flat sheet and place in plastic wrap. Let dough sit in refrigerator for 4 hours before rolling out and cutting.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Roll out dough to 1/4-inch thickness on lightly floured work surface..apply shapes. Place cookie dough shapes on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges of cookies are set and just begin to brown. Allow baked cookies to cool one to two minutes. Wait until cookies are completely cool before decorating. You can then store decorated cookies in an air tight container for up to 5 days.
