Christine St. John (MA ‘19) wasn’t expecting to find love on a popular reality television show, but life has a funny way of putting people in your life in ways you least expect.

Christine St. John, formerly Christine Hamilton, worked at Cleveland Clinic as a speech pathologist after obtaining her master’s degree from CSU in 2019. She lived in downtown Cleveland at the time, up until 2025, when saw an advertisement for Love is Blind

St. John saw this as an opportunity, and was willing to see what could come of applying.

“I was like ‘why not?’ I haven’t found the right person naturally, so I thought I’d give it a try, not really thinking anything of it,” St. John said.

After the initial application, callbacks and Zoom interviews, St. John was chosen to be a contestant.

“I was kind of pessimistic actually.” St. John said, “...It’s so hard to meet somebody in real life so what are the odds out of the sixteen men that there is somebody that is a good fit for me?”

The filming for the show began in late February 2025.

The experience of being filmed can come with intimidation for some, but St. John shared that hidden, out-of-the-way cameras helped her stay calm and natural through the filming process.

“At some point you [...] let down that wall and stop caring so much…” St. John said.

Victor St. John, known as Vic, was her second date in the pods, and the first 15 minute conversation felt like something deeper.

“Something in me knew from that very first 15 minutes…” St. John said.

Each date after the first kept advancing into deeper connection. Within a week, St. John knew she loved Vic.

“I was journaling and dated March 4th, and just wrote ‘love.’” St. John said.

The next day, March 5, 2025, was engagement day, and the day after was reveal day.

“Of course, I already agreed to marry him, fully prepared that whatever he looked like, whatever came out from behind those doors [was] going to be my husband,” St. John said.

When the reveal finally happened, and Christine and Vic were able to see each other for the first time, the love and connection they formed only solidified more.

“I couldn’t have been happier. The physical connection was just the same as the emotional connection,” St. John said.

The two married April 9, 2025. Today, they live in Columbus, where Vic is a professor at Ohio State University and Christine works as a speech pathologist.

Although there are challenges that come with resuming the balance of day-to-day life after the show was filmed and aired, St. John is thankful for the experience Love is Blind gave in understanding herself better and finding a partner like Vic, and she would do it all over again.
