The Cleveland State University Alumni Association welcomed its third Corporate Chapter this week as employees of American Greetings gathered to share campus stories and networking strategies over lunch at their corporate offices in Brooklyn, Ohio. The world’s largest manufacturer of greeting cards employs approximately 125 CSU alums with a wide range of degrees and specialties.

Alums, who had been meeting independently under the leadership of Camille Davis (MBA, Business, 2015) and Kelli Snowgold (MBA, Business, 2012), were presented with a plaque honoring their formal recognition as an official chapter. CSU alumni contribute heavily to the success of the company, which generates annual revenue of approximately $2 billion.

During the event, American Greetings’ Chief Financial Officer, Greg Steinberg (B.B.A, Business, 1995; MBA, Business, 1998) spoke of the importance of leveraging CSU relationships and shared his own Cleveland State story. “My first two years I went to school during the day and did not have a job. The final two years I got an office job and went to school at night so that I was able to get business experience. I worked for John Turk, President and CEO of Western Management, Inc. John was a CSU alum, encouraged me to grow, and fostered my career opportunities. I decided to not only get a degree in Finance, but an MBA from CSU.”

Cleveland State University Assistant Vice President of Alumni Affairs, Brian Breittholz, encouraged members to “come, connect, and commit” to their alma mater. By remaining engaged with Cleveland State—through their corporate chapter, and by attending events on campus and across the city, corporate chapter alumni will find new opportunities to network and grow not only for personal and professional benefit, but for the community as a whole.

American Greetings joins Sherwin-Williams and Forest City Enterprises as the first corporate chapters of the CSU Alumni Association.
