Jo Manette Nousak

JO MANETTE NOUSAK, BA ’75
Audiologist/Researcher
National Intrepid Center of Excellence

For the past four years, Jo Manette Nousak, BA speech and hearing ’75, has been an audiologist/researcher/supervisor at The National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. NICoE delivers comprehensive and holistic care for service members and their families affected by combat and mission-related traumatic brain injury and psychological health conditions.

Dr. Nousak’s many responsibilities including providing complete audiological evaluations, including hearing, balance/dizziness and tinnitus assessments, and aural rehabilitation and referral.

Before joining NICoE, she was an audiologist at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, working with active military and veterans impacted by traumatic injuries.

Her nearly 40-year career also includes serving as an assistant professor of communication and sciences disorders at the University of Cincinnati, and 12 years as a private practice audiologist.

She holds a master’s degree in audiology from Memphis State University and a Ph.D. in speech and hearing sciences from City University of New York. She lives in Rockville, Maryland.
