Michael Gibbons, JD ’81, was honored for his achievements by the C|M|LAW Alumni Association in 2009. The respected attorney is a former member of the law school’s Visiting Committee as well as its National Advisory Council.
He is the founder and senior managing director of Cleveland-based Brown Gibbons Lang & Company, an investment banking services firm, and plays an active role in client engagement and business development opportunities. In 2001, BGL was the first American company voted into the Global M&A, a European-based consortium of independent mergers and acquisitions firms. Four years later, he was elected its chairman.
Immediately prior to forming BGL, Mr. Gibbons was president and chief executive officer of Underwood, Neuhaus & Company, a leading regional securities and investment banking firm in Houston. He also held positions as executive vice president, head of capital markets and manager of corporate finance with Underwood.
While attending C|M|LAW as a part-time evening student, he worked for McDonald & Company Securities and was already a partner by the time he graduated. He went on to serve as senior vice president.
The Fairview Park resident holds a master’s degree in management from Case Western Reserve University. His wife, Diane, is a 1988 CSU alumna in business. They are the parents of five.
