Chuck and Helene Debelak, both earned master’s degrees in education, and are the founders of Birchwood School of Hawken on Cleveland’s west side. This private, independent school for students in pre-K through eighth grade merged with Hawken School in 2016. Chuck is Head of School and also teaches mathematics to fifth through eighth graders. Helene is director of curriculum and teaches literature.
