Blue Skies, A Big Thank You, and Some Seeds, Please.

Four straight days of sunny skies and warm temperatures—in Northeast Ohio. I had to pinch myself. If only the streak could have lasted a few more days. The grey has returned.

It’s springtime in Cleveland and every day presents an opportunity to add or subtract clothing with the ever changing temps.  The school year is nearing its final stretch and the campus is abuzz with activity as students race to finals.  Soon we will welcome our Class of 2019 into the Alumni Association as the next chapter of their CSU lives unfold.

This week happens to be National Volunteer Week. Associations across the country are saying thank you to their volunteers for the various ways they loan their time and talents.  On behalf of the Alumni Affairs staff, I want to especially thank the many, many alumni/friends volunteers who contribute in meaningful ways to advancing CSU and the success of our students.  Whether it’s serving on the alumni board, volunteering to recruit for admissions, coaching students through various mentorships, performing mock interviews to prepare our students for potential jobs, loaning your talents on a Visiting Committee or governing board…the volume of volunteers, and the impact they have, is absolutely incredible. We are deeply grateful and appreciative. THANK YOU, CSU VOLUNTEERS.

Soon, I hope, I will begin planting my flower beds and vegetable seeds. They’ll require nourishment (water), sun, some pruning, more sun, weeding, and more nourishment. If maintained regularly, I’ll have a prosperous garden that will provide me with both fresh food and compliments from neighbors.  The things seeds can do!  We’ve been planting a lot of seeds at CSU as well.  I hope you’ve been following the new partnerships and opportunities recently unveiled by President Sands. We’re experiencing some truly game-changing times at CSU. Seeds are being planted that will pay off in powerful ways.  Keep up on all the latest CSU news at www.csuohio.edu and alumni news at www.csualumni.com
