There’s No Place Like Home
One of the most remembered movie lines Dorothy spoke at the conclusion of the Wizard of Oz—“there’s no place like home.”
Throughout the summer I’ve done my share of traveling, as have many of you. Whether it was vacation, family reunions, conferences, or alumni events, I’ve found that there’s something comforting about coming home at the end of a trip. Coming home to my own place, to my bed, to my pillows, and to the comfort of routine. I suspect you may feel the same.
That’s why we encourage you to come back to your University “home” for Homecoming at the end of September. We have a great slate of activities planned for you. Whether you like running in a 5k, marching in a parade, cheering on our student athletes, or reminiscing at a 50th reunion (Class of 1968), we’ve got you covered. Check out all of the activities here to learn more and to register. Spread the word and bring family and friends.
During Homecoming we will also recognize a dozen alumni at the Distinguished Alumni Awards program on Friday, September 28th. This event is truly spectacular. The accomplishments and contributions of these alumni are very, very impressive. Tickets are still available here if you wish to attend and witness for yourself.
We will share video highlights of all Homecoming activities in the October issue of Viking Pride.
Along with the Distinguished Alumni Awards program, we also honor alumni who are living/leading fascinating lives—making a difference in unique ways. If you know of alums who are fascinating by what they do, the lives they live, or the odds they’ve overcome, consider nominating them for this year’s class of Fascinating Alumni. Those selected will be honored in the winter at our Alumni Recognition Reception. Nominate an alumnus here.
As we begin a new school year at CSU, I welcome you on behalf of the CSU Alumni Association to engage with your alma mater through the many different channels available. We look forward to your participation.
