Brian's Corner

The start of another school year, and I find myself wondering, once again, “Where did the summer go?”  As a child, it seemed like summer break was endless. Long days and long nights, filled with everything…except homework! The good ole days.

This weekend, students who live on campus moved into our residence halls, and today marks the first day for the Class of 2023. No, that was not a typo. The Class of 2023. Overnight, the campus is abuzz with energy and excitement, along with students trying to figure out where their classes are located.

As you may be aware, last year we traveled around the country with President Sands, introducing him to our alumni outside of Cleveland while also sharing with alumni a “Then and Now” presentation which shows the evolution of campus. For those far from Cleveland, most were unaware of the many positive changes.  Now it’s Cleveland’s turn!  Please plan on joining alumni (all family members are invited as well) from all generations to our first Viking Fall Harvest on Saturday, October 5 from 3-6 p.m. at Mather Mansion on campus.  The day will be filled with plenty of fun, food and frolicking (I bet you haven’t used that word in some time). Our hosts will be President Harlan and Lynn Sands. The Harvest is the centerpiece of this year’s Homecoming.

More information about the Viking Fall Harvest will be mailed soon. In the meantime, please save the date, round up the family, call your friends, and plan on enjoying one super Saturday back on campus on October 5.  Keep updated by visiting www.csualumni.com for the latest details.

Go alumni. Go Class of 2023!
