From the CSUAA Board president

To all the proud Vikings out there…

We did it!

On Giving Day 2021, we accomplished something BIG!

For a remarkable 56 years, Cleveland State University has been blessed with a community that continuously provides support for their Viking Family. CSU Giving Day 2021 proved nothing’s changed. This 24-hour fundraising and celebration effort challenged not only alumni, but students, staff, faculty, parents, and friends from all over the globe to imagine more for Cleveland State and the programs that mean the most to us. Nearly 2,500 Vikings came together and gave close to $450,000 in support of several areas of the university, including the Alumni Association, all 11 colleges, Athletics, the Veteran & Military Success Center, and various student organizations to name a few. This collective stewardship and enthusiasm demonstrated our ability to affect the lives of real people and will make an incredible impact for years to come in the form of scholarships, new programs, research funds, study abroad opportunities and so much more.

I hope you’ll agree, there’s a lot of joy that comes from contributing to something greater than ourselves.  When an organization of higher learning has provided us with the skills and experience to succeed in life or with invaluable personal connections, a collaborative giving event can ignite a widespread spirit of philanthropy that lasts far beyond the day. I look forward to continuing our momentum throughout the year as we proudly honor our mission established in December 1964.

Go Vikes!

Sincerely,

Nikki Byrd
President, Alumni Association Board

P.S. For those who enjoy fun competition:  Athletics topped the Giving Day leaderboards for most dollars raised and most donors, while graduates from the 2010s rallied the most classmates to give back, with 231 alums contributing.
