Gentrification presents a conundrum for equity planners: it is bringing badly needed investment and residents into cities but at the same time it threatens to displace low-income families by raising rents. How should equity planners respond? The key is to understand that we live in an age of simultaneous de-urbanization and re-urbanization – decentralization and recentralization. We cannot understand one without the other and it is the job of equity planners to link the two. Register here.
