Currently serving as president-elect and serving on the executive and events committee, Jim Brazytis (BA ’94) is no stranger to the CSUAA Board. He originally joined the board in the early 2000s and served in a variety of roles, one of which included president, from 2006-2008. He began serving on the board again in 2019.

Why did you choose to join the CSUAA Board?

“I believe it's important to pay it forward. Serving on the alumni board allows me to help the university, especially the students, be successful in meeting their goals. We can all make an impact by offering our time, talent or treasure.”

What is your favorite CSU memory?

“In 1994, my girlfriend (now wife), her friend and I represented CSU in the Rolling Stone Rock-N-Roll Trivia Bowl presented by Ford. This was a national competition. With the highest score in the country, we were flown out to the Hard Rock Cafe in Los Angeles to compete against a few other universities. Unfortunately, we came up a few notes short, but a trip to Los Angeles in January wasn't too bad.

Favorite CSU hangout?

“The orange couches on the second floor of the cage (former student center), right outside the bridge that led to the main classroom building.”

Who was your favorite CSU professor and what was your favorite CSU class?

“My favorite professors were Jana Stone (public relations) and Joel Lieske (political science).”

What is your favorite thing to do in Cleveland?

"I enjoy going to see the Guardians, Browns and Cavs, and accompanying my wife to fairs, markets and bazaars.”

What is your favorite Cleveland restaurant?

“Heck’s cafe, Blue Point Grille and Bourbon Street Barrel Room.”

Do you enjoy any particular activities or have any hobbies?

“I enjoy sports and music.”

Is there anything else you want to share (pets, family composition, etc.)?

“I was born and raised in Cleveland and liked it before it was cool. I have been married to my beautiful wife for 26 years and have two children, one which attends CSU and the other is at Ohio Wesleyan University.”

Hidden talents?

“Having worked in a record store throughout college, I have deep knowledge of music trivia and a very diverse love of music - from Ice Cube and Guy to Jimmy Buffett and the Black Crowes.”
